Marvin & Murial H. Paulson ~ A Travelogue of Memories
...by CAPT Marvin Paulson (Ret.), now 93 yrs. old and living in Las Vegas, NV - see what he recently wrote to us below.
Captain Marvin Paulson, Coast and Geodetic Survey (retired), wrote a memoir for his family in 2001. It covers the years 1945 to 1969 and contains recollections of the travels and travails of Captain Paulson and his wife Muriel during this period. Through it all, the good nature, friendliness, and sense of humor of Captain Paulson shines through. Although written by Captain Paulson, the life of Muriel Paulson, an adventurous lady who endured over 40 moves in 24 years while traveling with or visiting her husband on his many assignments ranging from the post-war Philippine Islands to the North Slope of Alaska, also shines through.
Read CAPT Paulson's memoir on the NOAA History website...
An update received from CAPT Paulson on 12/6/2006....
"You and other NOAA officers may be interested to know that I am one month shy of 92 years of age and maintaining an active life style in an apartment of an Assisted Living establishment. I am President of the Resident Council of 126 members, and I have just completed 2 years as Historian conducting a weekly discussion group on the subject. Many of my Coast and Geodetic experiences became interesting topics of discussion. To help pass my leisure time, in a profitable manner healthwise, I enrolled in a watercolor painting class and have since framed 23 amateur paintings for my own edification."
