National ACO Scholarship Applications 2012

The Executive Committee of National ACO Scholarships, Inc. has issued its annual call to high school seniors and college undergrads for applications for scholarship awards for the 2012/2013 academic year. The two-page application form is available on the Resources page, under the heading “National ACO Scholarships, Inc.” Application forms may also be obtained by contacting Secretary/Treasurer Captain Dave Peterson, NOAA (Ret), by phone (301-921-6357) or email (kmpdhp -at- comcast -dot- net). Complete application packages should be sent to the corporation’s post office address (on the application form) and should be postmarked no later than Friday, April 13, 2012.

The NOFA Annual Holiday Party will be held at the home of Rear Admiral Jon and Cindy Bailey on Saturday, December 3 from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Join us for an evening of great food and happy spirits. The main dish and soft drinks will be provided. There will be a cash bar for beer and wine. Please bring an appetizer, side dish or dessert to share.

Each year our holiday party includes a raffle and silent auction benefiting The ACO Scholarship Fund, The National Military Family Association, The Military Officers Association of America & The Reserve Officers Association. Please bring a Gift Basket for the Raffle or Silent Auction Item (The theme is Date Night for the silent Auction).

NOAA Marine Operations Center – Pacific’s dedication ceremony will take place on Saturday, August 20, 2011 followed by an open house from 13:00-16:00. The open house will continue on Sunday from 10:00-14:00.

It’s that time again! The National Military Family Association is accepting nominations for this year’s NOAA Family of the Year! CDR Shep Smith & family (2009) and LTJG Jonathan Heesch & family (2010) were our previous winners!

NMFA: This award recognizes strong families who embrace their service to the Nation, are role models in their community, and understand that together they are stronger. Many times, families think that what they do is nothing special; we disagree. Families serve with quiet dedication to their family and Service. I’m sure you’ll agree that their commitment deserves recognition.

One family from each of the seven uniformed services will be selected as a finalist. From the seven family finalists we choose an overall Family of the Year. All finalists receive an all-expense paid trip to Washington, DC for the award ceremony and the Family of the Year receives a cash prize of $1,000.
